THE ROYAL JORDANIAN ARMY KNIFE Empty
PostSubject: THE ROYAL JORDANIAN ARMY KNIFE   THE ROYAL JORDANIAN ARMY KNIFE Icon_minitimeThu 30 Jul 2015, 10:44

My good friend Victor recently obtained some samples of a  a new knife, in the course of his equipment and training business, and he very kindly sent one to me.
Apparently, the King of Jordan decided that his soldiers needed a fixed blade knife, and the resulting design, based on the classic Jambiya, is pictured here.

with multiple attachments for MOLLE system, to attach to a pack, vest, or within a vehicle.
The sheath has a elasticated leg-strap, to stabilize the weapon.
The cordura sheath has a rigid Kydex insert moulded to the exact contours of the blade, ensuring a secure fit.

The knife is inscribed on both sides of the blade:

All in all, a big, strong, knife, suited to the needs of the Arab soldier.

THE SECOND MODEL
Victor has just sent me another version of the Royal Jordanian knife, which I term the "slimline model" As you can see from this comparison it's narrower, and less radical that the existing model....

The blade is double edged, and curved, allowing deep slashes and thrusts....

....there is a handy pouch on the front of the sheath which will hold a flashlight, sharpening stone, or, magnesium fire block. There are numerous webbing strips for attachment to belt, pack, or, vest.

All in all, I prefer this new knife. It's more handy than its big brother, better balanced, and more ergonomical to use, at least in my Western hand.
