THE BELT Empty
PostSubject: THE BELT   THE BELT Icon_minitimeWed 16 Sep 2020, 10:18

Not long after the beginning of lockdown I decided to order a tactical belt. Now I didn't need another such belt, but I wanted one. I had heard good things about Wilderness Products [their belt is very popular with Gunsite staff] so ordered one of their 5-stitch designs.
After a month the belt hadn't arrived, while other items from USA had come through, so I started sending emails. No reply, for another month, then a message informed me that the belt had been dispatched my US Post.
I started tracking the package, from Arizona to Los Angeles, then eventually to Heathrow, where it stayed for several weeks. Then it flew back across the Atlantic to JFK. Another couple of weeks. I messaged Wilderness to tell them the package was apparently on the way back to them..... no reply.
Then, it arrived back at Heathrow. Eventually I was told that it had arrived at West Derby sorting office, and there was a customs charge.I would be getting a card to give details of this.
I waited a couple of days, no card. Now, blaming the Chinese Virus, the sorting office now only open between 0700-0900. I tried phoning them, to no effect, so made my way there for 0700. There were already a couple of people queuing, but eventually I made it to the window, where, inevitably the guy wanted to see the card I'd been sent. I told him I knew the package was there by online tracking, he looked sceptical, but went and found it. I paid the customs charge [plus the £8 the post office charge for collecting it, plus VAT on the total!] and, eventually, at long last, had the desired belt.

As to the belt, it's OK.... not the best of the type. A while back I picked up a 5.11 Operator's belt while in Atlanta, and, in my opinion, it's better than the Wilderness.
