| Hi Dennis, I am getting great feedback on the seminar, specially the counter grappling as this is one of the things that has cropped up in the last few years,as people are using grappling techniques to attack people on the street. Also the nlp training on the Sunday was some of the best training that I did in years, it is something that we will be doing more of in the future. With the setting up of our new combatives association, we 'll have a busy few months. Anyone looking for information can contact me on johnbrawn.com@gmail.com or phone me on 00353 86 81 71 482. Cheers, John | |

| Its interesting to hear people are attacking with grappling techniques because I have always been told people attack normally with a right cross/haymaker.
Would you strongly suggest then that I get some good quality grappling training in and if so are we talking vertical or ground or both?
Cheers Den. | |

| Dennis, What we are seeing in recent years, with the interest in MMA, an element of the baddies are training in this methodology. Of course, the majority of grapplers are decent guys, but several gyms are backed by criminals, and a dodgy percentage does get into taining. - Quote :

What we need is to work on is counter-grappling, as was taught on the above seminar. Cheers, | |

| Im training under Martin j Dougherty a blackbelt in combative jujitsu, master instructor level in Self Defence Federation.
I train at Sunderland which is north east, I live in south shields roughly halfway between Sunderland an Newcastle upon tyne.
As for Sombo at south shields we have Karate kickboxing 1 judo club and maybe 1 jujitsu traditional, not much variety hence my having to sit on a bus for an hour to get to a decent class.
Not knocking any other arts by the way but combatives is what im trying to get in to.
Would love to attend your seminar im trying to get on seminar circuit at moment to be honest, moneys always held me back a bit, tryin to get to Dik's fast course at moment.
Anyway cheers,
Den. | |

| Hi Dennis,
Going to the fast defence course is a great idea, you will learn about the best techniques and it is the closest thing you can get to being in a real fight.
Enjoy!

| Hi John,
thought I was being clever and dug out Geoff T's Sambo wrestling dvd, in the intro he specifically said not to confuse it with Sombo, foiled again im afraid.
Im trying in vain to find anyone near me who teaches it to compliment the jujitsu at moment.
By the way where will the spring seminar be held because I would like to get along if I can.
cheers,
Den. | |

| Hi Guys, Dennis asked me to post up some picutres of the equipment I have been using over the last few months. Here is one of the most important pieces of equipment that I have ever bought. It is excellent for punches or combative strikes. Also helps with accuracy as far as punching goes because unlike a heavy bag the head actually moves when you hit it. It always there, its never late and it never complains during a training session! The cheapest version is at www.titleboxing.com. Check it out. You won't be sorry. Regards John | |

| During the seminar John took the guys through a session using the power bands: Guys, I'm going to send for a set of these bands to use at the Gutterfighters. Lots of potential for spicing up a workout, especially by using them as direct augmentation for the strikes. John has promised to most more information on these Cheers, | |

| hi guys,
i was talking to dennis during the week and he said that he was using the plank in his ab workouts.to make the workout harder, do the plank after your ab workout.start with 4 set of 30 seconds up to 4 sets of 60 seconds, and finish like the irish boxing team with 4 sets of 90 seconds.then start with your arms on a swiss ball at 30, 60, and 90 seconds.
enjoy

| Hi Everyone,
I just wanted to give some feedback about the seminar Dennis and John held here in Ireland.
I've trained with a lot of guys and in a lot of Reality Based systems. After a while you realize that there are only so many ways to hit a guy, and to be honest I wasn't expecting much more form John and Dennis Seminar.
And I was very, very wrong.
The stuff Dennis and John were teaching was great, real world based and brutally effective, easy to use and simple to learn. But what really impressed the hell out of me was the teaching methodology in which it was taught. Some really good cutting edge stuff, mixed with down to earth humor.
John gave us a load of really great drills that taxed our co-ordination strength and stamina simultaneously, that even had me gassed and then he threw in some of his great punching drills.
On Dennis, he's clarity in explaining each technique and the logic behind it was great, as were the movement selection. In particular he showed us one counter grappling technique that was so obvious, effective and easy to apply in any grappling initiation I was shocked I had never seen it before. It's now one of my favorite moves.
I've actually written a review for Irish Fighter Magazine that goes in to a load of detail and I'll throw it up once I get permission from the editors, but I just wanted to say what a great course it was and how much I appreciate you guys teaching this stuff and making available ot us all.
Thanks.
-
